  • Navigation skills

Day 1

 

  • Meet ‘n Brief in Waterford,
    • Collect individual packs containing light camping gear and shared food
  • Trek from trail head to base camp 
  • Enjoy a well earned lunch. Nothing like the outdoors to give you an appetite!
  • Get going on a range of activities including
    • High tech and traditional navigation training
    • Locate a person using map and compass or GPS
    • Stream crossing using Gibbon Ribbon
    • Camp craft activities
  • 7pm: Fire up the stoves and muck in to prepare supper
  • Chill out over supper and plan the following day’s route to the summit
  • Spend the rest of the evening in typical base camp mode telling tall tales of past adventures (feel free to use your imagination) before hitting the sack!

 

 

Day 2

Note: the route to the summit is a trek that stays clear of any exposed edges

  • Early wake up call!
  • Learn to survive!
    • Fetch water
    • Fire up the stoves
    • Cook breakfast
    • Clean up
  • After a hearty breakfast, set out for the Summit taking in some spectacular views along the way including a 432m sheer cliff face dropping down to Coumshingaun Lake, that’s twice as high as the Cliffs of Moher!
  • At the summit:
    • Grab a photo opportunity; you are 792m above sea level!
    • In teams, navigate back to base camp
  • Back at  base to break camp and hike out to the trail head
  • 5pm: Back in Waterford
  • Price includes camping equipment, meals & transport from / to Waterford. 1, 2 or 3 person  tents available
